Four SAPS members go to hospital after ATM bombing

Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) bombers could not get away with the cash, nor could not get away from the SAPS.

On Sunday, May 25 at approximately 02:15 as the police van patrolled around eMalahleni they noticed two bakkies, a silver Amarok and a white Toyota standing outside an ATM.

As soon as the police started to approach them, the Amarok raced away from the scene and soon after that the Toyota bakkie followed.
Highway Patrol was called to also give chase, as the police van continued to chase the two vehicles around town.
In Voortrekker Street the Toyota bakkie wanted to hit the Highway Patrol vehicle, but hit the police van instead.
The suspects in the Amarok stopped their vehicle and ran away, while the suspects in the Toyota were arrested on scene.

The police bakkie that was hit by one of the get away vehicles on Sunday, May 25 in the morning in Voortrekker Street.

SAPS members were taken to hospital for a check up and were discharged the same morning.
