Hijacked victims drugged and robbed

Police arrived on scene to find two people complaining that they had been hijacked and drugged.

While out on patrol on March 10, police received call informing them of two people alongside the road in Extension 13.
Police headed out and found the two victims who explained to police that they had been hijacked. They complained of dizziness and were suspected to have been drugged by the hijackers.
The two victims were transported to Akasia Hospital by paramedics. Their Mazda 3 was later recovered at the Soshanguve Block.

In another incident that occurred on May 16, two men were at a pub when they were approached by two men who asked them for a lift.
The driver of the BMW agreed to give the men a lift. While driving towards Eskom Park, one of the passengers drew a firearm and held the driver at gunpoint.
The driver was told to turn in towards Puma Stadium where he was ordered to stop his car.
The two suspects searched the two men for their belongings, taking their cell phones and money they had on them.
They then drove off in the BMW with registration number DKY 047 MP.

No arrests have been made in both cases and the BMW has not yet been recovered.

“We advise the community not to offer or give lifts to strangers, and to be careful and weary of their surroundings,” said Capt Eddie Hall, Witbank Police Communications Officer.
