Just listen to the radio

Robbers managed to subdue two guards and steal R5 000 worth of copper cabling.

While on duty on May 4, Mr Alfred Ndlovu attempted to contact his colleague Mr Thomas Guiliche using a two-way radio but didn’t receive a response.
“I decided to walk to his post where I was approached by a man armed with a gun,” said Ndlovu.
The robber held Ndlovu at gunpoint as other suspects approached him. They took him to where Guiliche had been tied up and left.

One of the robbers then proceeded to bind Ndlovu’s hands and feet, while six of the suspects went off into the distance at Boschman Colliery Mine.
They later returned with a load of copper cabling, they set it down then walked off again, returning once more with a load of cabling.

One of the suspects took the personal belongings of the two guards.
“He wanted to take the two-way radios as well but I advised him not to and he didn’t surprisingly,” said Ndlovu.

The eight assailants began stripping the cable and rolled it into bundles, then left the two guards bound on site along the R555 road.
