Mr A. Afrika, an ex pupil at the school, said Mr Jansen was dedicated to teaching and had a gift.
“He used to give us examples, which we still remember even today, he used to make sure that his class was the best. His demonstration was the best and was planted into our minds. We would like to take a bow to a great man. His past students are found all over the country. Mr Jansen you have done your part and make peace with that.”
Ms H. Maseko, a past-teacher said Mr Jansen was like a father figure to the school and rallied behind every teacher at the school. She said even though Mr Jansen was very disciplined, he supported every teacher at the school and wanted hard workers. She encouraged the teachers and pupils to follow in his footsteps.

Mr Jansen said he wanted to be an engineer but was forced into teaching by his father, who was also a teacher and does not regret it. He related stories of naughty learners some of whom stole horses and others came to the school very drunk. Mr Jansen also told stories of past pupils who were very brilliant and put the school on the map. He also paid respect to some of the teachers at school, some of whom had passed away.
“I am proud of the teachers and pupils of the school, we need to stand by our teachers. They have created a light for us to follow and we need to embrace change. You will always have a special place in my heart. We need to reach out and there is no mountain high enough to climb. Thanks to the parents for trusting your children to us and thanks to the SGB for the good working relationship. Thanks to the community for the support, may the Holy Spirit always carry you through and God bless you.”
