At 20:20 on April 26 a man was robbed in Plumer Street. He was driving down the road, when he apparently hit a pothole and stopped his car to asses the damage. Suddenly two unknown men approached him.
One of them had a firearm and demanded the driver hand over all his cash.
They also took the victim’s handgun that he was carrying, before running away.
Another robbery occurred when a man was driving around in the Central Business District (CBD).
When he stopped, three men approached his bakkie.
One of them had a firearm and the other two men carried knife and a screwdriver. They apparently opened the door of the vehicle and grabbed the driver’s wallet and cell phone before running away.
Witbank SAPS does try to have a visible presence in the CBD, but people are advised to always keep their doors locked.
