Keegan’s Guinness World Record attempt

“It was an epic journey, in some places I really didn't think I would come out alive,” said Keegan Longueira.

Keegan set out on a mission to cycle through Africa on January 2 and on March 2 he rolled into Cape Town after his epic 10 526km journey across the continent.
His aim was to break the Guinness World Record of 70 days held by Dutch cyclist, Robert Knol and that was precisely what he did. He arrived at the Water Front after being on the road for a total of 59 days 8 hours and 30 minutes.

A month and a half later, Keegan has finally managed to send all his information and evidence through to the Guinness World Record head office in London. Now the wait begins to see whether the record will be approved. Until then the record remains unofficial.
The wait will be gruelling but Keegan has felt at peace about it ever since he arrived.
“It’s been a long road and I wouldn’t trade the lessons for anything. I was underfunded, underprepared and it was these things that have made me so grateful for putting in such a good performance. God really is faithful,” said Keegan.

Keegan has been researching some other epic projects, but has promised to be stationary for a little while to write his book on the trip.
“I have really learnt and incredible amount from the trip, my life will never be the same,” said Keegan.
