The R544 road came to a stand still after a multiple truck and car pile up.
On Wednesday, April 22 at approximately 16:30 a truck transporting steel plates towards Kriel from eMalahleni allegedly failed to stop at the four way intersection.
Colliding into the back of another truck, the truck transporting the plates then swerved and went into oncoming traffic.
Seven vehicles were then involved in the multiple pile up as the truck continued through the traffic.
Emergency Services responded to the scene. Eight patients were taken to various hospitals for further treatment.
