Video: Highland Mews and Saveways evacuated

Two telephonic bomb threats caused alarm at two shopping centers when people had to be evacuated.

On Tuesday, April 7 ABSA bank at Saveways Centre received a phone call with information that a bomb was inside the building. The bank and the centre immediately evacuated.  Thereafter another bomb threat was received via telephone call at the First National Bank in Highland Mews and the entire centre was evacuated.

Witbank 911 and Langamed Emergency Response Management attended to the scene, shoppers climbed in their vehicles and rushed away from the scene.

“My life flashed before my eyes as I ran out the shop when I heard of the bomb threat,” said Ms G. Botha.

Bomb squad arrived at both scenes and no bombs were found.
