WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT – Video: Farmer bound and severely beaten by assailants

A man was bound, a bag put over his head, and he was severely beaten by assailants at his farm home outside eMalahleni.

On March 17 Mr Nicolas Mienie returned home to be ambushed by three men, who assaulted him and stole from his home. Items stolen include a pellet gun, jewellery and clothing, which was to be donated to charity.

The suspects then loaded the stolen items in his 1997 Toyota and drove off. Langamed Emergency Management Services arrived on scene where they stabilised Mienie.

The number of farm murders rose to 67 in 2014 from 62 the previous year, Afriforum and the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU) said. There were 277 farm attacks in 2014, which the organisation believes is the highest figure since 1990.

info
The 132.2 murders on farms per 100,000 people is more than double the murder rate for policeman at 54.4 per 100,000 people, the unions added, and 32.2 per 100,000 for the country’s population as a whole.
