Its Shavathon time

“February and March mark National Shavathon/Spray-a-Thon Day and we are looking for people to support us with this national campaign,” said Andries du Preez, CANSA’s Community Mobiliser Highveld.

Shavathon events may be hosted by individuals, schools, organisations or corporates. It is a fun-filled opportunity to raise awareness regarding a serious issue, to build team spirit and to help make an impact for good.

Funds raised at Shavathon events help fund CANSA’s Care Centre’s service to those affected by cancer in the community.
National Shavathon Day will be on February 28 and this day will be celebrated at Highveld Mall and also KG Mall.
Shavathon/Spray-a-Thon in corporate and workplaces will be scheduled from March 2 to 6.
“If there is any individual, school, college, support group and organisation or corporate that would like to assist, include or invite Shavathon, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately,” Andries said.
Bookings are essential.

Not everyone is keen to shave their head and that is absolutely fine! You can still participate.
Show solidarity with a cancer survivor by getting your head sprayed in rainbow colours: red, pink, purple, ’Blue Bull blue’, green, silver, yellow, orange, black and white or use our CANSA Wraps to add some flair to your body or hair.
To add to the excitement of spraying your hair, they have offered stencil designs in the past, namely: a lightning bolt, flower, butterfly, star, word ‘Warrior’ and a soccer ball.

CANSA Wraps were first introduced during the 10th Shavathon celebrations and due to popular demand they are now available throughout the year at CANSA Care Centres and at public Shavathon events.

You can phone Andries: 072 248 9424 or email him at adupreez@cansa.org.za or Daphne Botha: 082 643 9596 or dbotha@cansa.org.za.
Wear CANSA Wraps creatively as headbands, bandanas, turbans, neckerchiefs and even wristbands. They are R100 per wrap.
