Plumer street’s ‘crater’

There is regular feedback on the administrator’s Facebook page, about unplanned power outages and road repairs as well as burst water pipes.

However it was reported in the January 15 issue of the WITBANK NEWS that when the municipality does repairs on these holes, it is not always cleaned up properly. The hole in the parking lot of the Post Office in Blanchville was roughly filled with large stones and sand leaving motorists to park in the road to collect their post.

The municipality has been asked to respond again to these cases. However on Wednesday, January 14 a large hole was quickly repaired by municipal employees. The hole, that was caused by a burst pipe under Plumer Street, was a hazard for motorists and pedestrians.

The repair was conducted quickly and the hole was filled reasonably well, although the road has not been re-tarred. The spokesperson, Mr Lebo Mofokeng, has been asked to comment regarding the matter as well as on the article from last week, however he has not responded.
