SBV robbery to be transferred to High Court

DNA may just provide a crucial link between suspects and their involvement in a robbery of SBV that took place last year April.

On January 12, the 12 accused appeared in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court to be informed that their fates are to be determined in a High Court.
In their previous appearance on September 5, two more suspects had joined the already 10 accused. DNA swabs were taken from the suspects that were involved with the armed robbery of the SBV in Klipfontein which took place on April 27, 2014.
The results of the swabbings may tie these suspects to the robbery.
Currently the prosecution is waiting on the indictments to arrive in which the suspects will be formally accused of their indictable offences.
The case has also been postponed until February 24, awaiting a High Court date, meaning that the matter will be transferred to a nearby High Court. The High Court has yet to be determined.

Altogether 11 of the suspects will remain on bail, reporting to their local police stations every Friday, as one of the suspects continues to remain in custody, with a case pending against him in Boksburg.
