“Arrive Alive” this holiday

Various emergency services, such as paramedics and towing services had an Arrive Alive project over the recent weekend in partnership with Trac N4.

From December 18 to December 21 they set up a centralized dispatch point on the Mandela Street off ramp. From that location they covered the stretch of highway between the N4 tollgate and Balmoral. The aim was to have all the emergency services work from a centralized location to increase response time.

It was an eventful weekend with a number of incidents that they responded to. They also set up a road block in partnership with the SAPS to check vehicles for road worthiness. Many vehicles were found with issues as the road block made it possible to identify these vehicles.

Over 17 volunteers from Witbank911 assisted with the project in various ways. Over all it was a success. There will be another similar project planned for the end of the festive season in January.
