Hijacked and abandon in Springs

Hijackers robbed two drivers of their vehicles last week.

The first hijacking took place on November 27 at about 20:30 when Mr Mduduzi Shabalala parked his Volkswagen Golf, registration number FXR 696 MP, at a garage in Watermeyer Street.
He went around to the boot of his car to fetch something, when three men approached him and held him at gunpoint. The hijackers bound him and forced him into the car.

They drove off to Springs, where they abandoned him. They also took his cellular phone.
A passing truck driver noticed Shabalala and assisted him in getting to the nearest police station where the hijacking was reported.
Shabalala was unavailable for comment at time of print.
The second hijacking took place in Klarinet on November 29 at about 18:45.

According to Mr Jeffrey Pule’s statement, he had stopped at a stop street when a man approached his vehicle and threatened him with a firearm.
He was told to get out of the white Mazda Etude, registration DWT 107 MP. The hijacker then got in the car and drove off, forcing Pule to walk to Witbank Police Station where he reported the hijacking.

Pule refused to comment on the incident.
Witbank Police cautions the public to always be aware of their surroundings, especially when driving alone, or in poor light.
