Ogies police clamp down on crime

During police operations last week, Ogies Police made 25 arrests and issued 20 fines.

The operations took place from November 10 to 16 and included the issuing of 20 fines to motorists who violated the National Road Traffic Act.
Eight suspects were arrested for sexual assault and common robbery. Five were arrested for drinking in public and three were arrested for theft while one was arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property.

There were two suspects arrested for residential burglary, one for common assault, one for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one arrest for rape.

Additionally a suspect was arrested for shoplifting, and one suspect was arrested for illegal connections. A young woman was arrested for the possession of illegal firearms – two handguns and eight rounds of live ammunition were confiscated.
