Hijacked and recovered in Boksburg

A Toyota Quantum that was hijacked in eMalahleni was recovered in Boksburg with the aid of a tracking device.

According to a report from the police, the vehicle driven by Mr Samuel Mdluli from KwaGuqa Extension 4 was on its way to Ackeville.
The incident happened on Friday, November 14 at about 22:00. When Mdluli turned onto the off-ramp to Ackerville from the N4 highway, a blue Mercedes with Gauteng registration pulled up in front of him and the driver put on his hazards.

The victim overtook the Mercedes and continued driving, but a short distance away at Van Dalen Street the same Mercedes blocked the road. While Mdluli was surprised, a passenger climbed out of the Mercedes and pointed a firearm at him.
Mdluli managed to jump out of the vehicle and run away into one of the nearby houses leaving everything, including his cell phone and driver’s licence, in the car.

Mdluli was able to contact his brother with another phone.
“It was through the mercy of God that the men who pointed the firearm at me did not shoot. We are living in a sick society and at the mercy of other people. I was traumatised by the whole ordeal,” said Mdluli.

The vehicle was recovered in Boksburg, Gauteng on Saturday at about 02:00.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking and nobody has been arrested.
