Long arm of the law stretches far

Did you know crossing a railway track without authorisation at a place where a railway or pedestrian crossing does not exist can land you in trouble?

Witbank SAPS arrested 12 people last weekend for doing just that.
As Operation Festive Season gains momentum, 99 suspects were ‘hugged’ by the long arm of the law from Friday to Monday, November 14 to 17.

Eight suspects were arrested for shoplifting and nine for theft in general.
Don’t be caught drinking and driving. Four suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and the SAPS are showing zero tolerance for this offence.

Having stolen goods in your possession is also against the law, so 16 suspects found out as they were arrested for possession of stolen property.
Eleven suspects were arrested for assault, four for rape, 12 for the possession and dealing in drugs, two for fraud, two for trespassing and one for selling liquor without a license.

As the festive season draws near, homeowners are urged to be more vigilant and make sure all their doors are locked and windows are shut as five suspects were arrested for residential burglaries and six for business robberies.
Three suspects were also arrested for contravention of the Copy Right Act, one for using a vehicle without the consent of the owner, one for failing to produce a driver’s license and one for defeating the ends of justice.
