Jackson Mthembu discharged, still no arrests

Mr Jackson Mthembu has been discharged from eMalahleni Private Hospital (ePH) where he was recovering from a shooting incident.

An identity parade was held at Witbank Police Station on Thursday, October 23 with the three alleged suspects that were arrested in Tzaneen.
“These three suspects could not be linked to Mthembu’s shooting incident and the police will continue the search,” said Captain Eddie Hall, spokesperson for Witbank SAPS.

Mthembu was shot in the face while withdrawing money from ABSA Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in the Central Business District on Sunday evening, October 19.

An unknown suspect came behind him, drew a gun and pointed it at Mthembu, forcing him to withdraw all money from this bank account.

Mthembu then turned around and hit the suspect’s hand which was holding the gun.
A shot was fired and the bullet hit Mthembu in the cheek, he drove himself to hospital where he received treatment.
