Bullets fly in supermarket

A small supermarket was the target of an armed robbery in Reyno Ridge.

According to reports, two armed men robbed the outlet just before closing time on October 25.

At 19:30 the employee and the owner on duty apparently saw a man with a balaclava on enter the shop. Apparently a second armed robber, who was already in the shop, jumped on the counter and forced them to lie down on the ground.
The robbers allegedly stole everything from the shop’s storeroom and cash register. They apparently also took the victim’s cell phones.

The victims told police that the robbers fired six shots. Nobody was seriously wounded, but the owner was apparently assaulted by the robbers and taken to hospital.

The shots caused a commotion in the community as emergency services and member of the Community Policing Forum rushed to the scene. One community member wrote on Facebook, “Many, many shots fired near Birkholtz Street, Del Judor. Cars flying up and down the roads. Think they may have robbed or tried to rob the cafe.”
