Missing person’s murder solved

Ogies SAPS Detective Unit arrested a suspect for murder, who was recently convicted and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with another five years suspended.

Const Monica Seemela, spokesperson for Ogies SAPS, explained that W/O Matshika from the Detective Unit had been investigating a missing person case.

A young woman’s parents reported her missing after not hearing from her for several days. Although Ogies SAPS could not provide the exact date of the report, the detective went to her boyfriend’s house to try and track her down.

This led to the search of the premises. Her body was found in a shallow grave behind the man’s house in Phola. He was arrested and charged with her murder.

The accused appeared incourt on September 12 and will be serving five years behind bars, with another five suspended on the condition that he is not convicted of the same crime.

In the event that he is convicted for murder again he will serve the full sentence for that crime, as well as this suspended sentence.
Ogies SAPS is proud of the work the detectives are doing that leads to successful convictions in court.
