On Friday, October 3 taxi drivers set fire to their head office in Rhodes Street in an attempt to have their needs met by the board committee of LOTA. They have been protesting and striking since Thursday, October 2 as they feel that they are entitled to some of the demands that they are making.

It is uncertain at this point how long the strike is expected to last however the Police have been mobilised and the strike areas are under control.
