A tragic end to enforcers of the law

A trip back home was the tragic route taken by members of the police as they were met on the road by untimely death.

A trip back home was the tragic route taken by members of the police as they were met on the road by untimely death.

On Wednesday, September 24 as two policemen from Witbank Police Station were making their way back home from Pretoria, they met unfortunate circumstances which saw them lose control of their vehicle and go over the barriers on the N4.

Sergeant Morwapelo Rahlogo and Constable Jacob Leholo lost their lives around 22:00 when the accident occurred. The driver of a truck, who chose to remain anonymous, said that he heard a big bang from behind and he saw a car skid past him on the road.
“There were no other cars fortunately enough, otherwise it would been worse,” said the driver.
Sgt Rahlogo become a member of the SAPS in 2003 as a student and as the years went by he progressed to constable in 2004, and was finally made sergeant in 2013.

He was known for his work within the community, he did some crime prevention before being moved to violent crimes, economic crimes and finally general crimes. Last year he was awarded a certificate of 10 years’ loyalty in the police services.

Constable Leholo joined Witbank Police Station in 2011, where he also started out as a student and was promoted to constable in 2013.
At the time of his death he was assigned to the team of violent crimes.

Witbank Police Station was deeply moved as a result of the loss of their two members.
