The family of a toddler was traumatised after a reversing car killed their child.
Apparently the driver of the car did not notice the two young siblings playing in the street when he was reversing the car.
One-and-a-half year old Bongane Mhlongo was playing with his two-year-old sister when the accident happened. The car hit the child on Monday, September 29 between 10:00 and 10:30.
“All our neighbours always drive carefully in the street, because children play in the streets. It is so sad to lose such a young life because of somebody’s negligence,” said Mr Enoch Mhlongo, Bongane’s father.
Witnesses said the driver was reversing when he hit the child and stopped after he was told that he has knocked down the child. Police arrested the driver of the car.
The Mhlongo family was still busy with funeral arrangements of their child.
