Baby tossed away like garbage

The body of a beautiful newborn baby girl was found dumped in black plastic bag in Christiaan de Wet Street in the veldt.

On Sunday, August 31 a domestic worker made a startling discovery when she came across a black plastic bag in an open veldt.

Early that morning the worker walked to a well known shopping centre and on her way back she noticed the bag that was not there when she left to go the shops.

When she looked inside the bag, she noticed the lifeless baby lying inside the bag among a bottle of alcohol, chicken bones, a box of matches and papers.

She immediately alerted her employee and they went out to have a look and they alerted the police.
“This baby looks like a doll so perfect,” said one woman on scene.

The baby had lovely thick dark hair and beautiful skin complexion, but had been thrown away.

An autopsy will be done on the baby girl on Wednesday, September 3 to determine the cause of death.
“If you really don’t want your baby, please rather drop it off at Kabod House day or night and we will take care of it,” said Ms Talita Brits, project manager.

Already 46 babies have left fingerprints in the heart of the house mother Ms Alet Lombaard. At this stage Lombaard is taking care of five babies.

Kabod House operates under the wing of uMephi, a registered welfare organization programme, through which a service is rendered to orphaned and abandoned babies of 0 to 18 months left in hospitals or found by police.

Kabod House is situated at the Neo Doxa AFM Church grounds at 2b Rhodes Street, on the corner with Beatty Street.
