Problems with sewage are fast becoming the norm as the municipality seems to be failing to repair any damaged piping.
Some of it flows straight to the city’s main water supply and some of it gets drunk by animals that are along the streams, which carry it into their drinking water.
A resident of Santika Estate in Ben Fleur has been reporting the same issue for the past three months and still nothing has been done by the municipality to ensure that the problem gets solved.
Her major concern is that there is game behind the estate and they are consuming the contaminated water.
“The animals are going to get sick and die,” said the concerned resident.
Municipality spokesperson, Mr Lebohang Mofokeng, has not responded to e-mails regarding the issue of sewage in the eMalahleni area.
