The arrests were made for residential burglary, violation of court order, theft, assault, truck hijacking, possession of suspected stolen property, perjury, aggravating robbery and using of vehicle without owner’s consent.

The police were patrolling on the Ogies/Bethal Road when they noticed a suspicious car driving together with a truck.
They stopped the car, the truck also stopped and immediately two men jumped out of the truck and ran away into a nearby bush. They proceeded to the truck where they found a driver tied up and lying on the back seat. They discovered that he had been hijacked at gunpoint by the men who ran away together with the one who was driving a grey Audi.

They arrested a 31-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man.
Suspects were charged with truck hijacking, appeared in Kriel Magistrate’s Court on August 22 and their case was postponed to September 1 for formal bail application.

A 32-year-old woman was robbed on August 25 at a restaurant. The woman was busy at work when two unknown men came in an bought a drink. They hung around, then all of a sudden one of them stood up, pointed a firearm at her and demanded cash.

They opened the till and took an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and ran away. The police are investigating a case of aggravated robbery, no one was injured and no suspects arrested.
