Bus services for learners resume

It seems that transport for learners problems, which had parents in Klarinet livid, is being attended to.

“The matter is not resolved, however our children were picked up on Tuesday, July 29 and transported to school,” said Mr Jack Masombuka, community leader.

Community members and bus owners from Klarinet went on a protest action on Thursday, July 24 preventing any access from and to Klarinet.
Masombuka said learners were left stranded after a bus company, contracted by the provincial department of roads and transport and the provincial department of education, was not paid.

The city’s administrator, Mr Theo van Vuuren intervened. He addressed the crowd later the morning and gave feedback.
“I have received word from the province that the bus service will resume at Klarinet. A company, Batshebelo will start but as they are new there may be teething problems. I have conveyed this message to Mr Masombuka, as leader of the protestors. It will be advisable to monitor the situation.

The bus service will now only commence on Monday as further discussions between the community and bus company regarding routes will have to be agreed on.”
