Truck crashes through wall

The driver of a tipper truck was killed when he crashed through a wall on the N4.

On July 21 at about 10:00 a tipper truck crashed through the wall running along the middle of the highway near the Vosman turnoff.
The truck was travelling towards eMalahleni when it crashed through the brick wall and rolled into the lanes travelling in the opposite direction.

The wall was built to keep pedestrians from crossing dangerous highway and encourage them to use the footbridge built over the highway instead.

That day the foot bridge was used by pedestrians as a viewing platform as emergency personnel spent hours clearing the road of rubble and bricks as well as the load of dirt and sand the tipper was carrying before it rolled.

The driver seemed to have been the only person involved in the accident.
People gathered on the slope of the onramp as well to see what was going on.

The Traffic Department closed the road and rerouted traffic via the off-ramp as the road was littered with bricks and oil from the truck.
The Vosman SAPS are investigating the cause of the accident. The deceased driver has not yet formally been identified.
