Man hijacked in slow moving traffic

A man was stuck in slow moving traffic in Main Street when he was hijacked and taken to Verena Road.

The incident happened on Friday, July 11 at 08:00 when Mr Kobus Oosthuizen was allegedly driving along Main Street in his white Corsa bakkie.

He drove past the Old Coronation footbridge; at that stage traffic was very slow due to the stop/go.
Oosthuizen noticed an unknown man standing on the driver’s side of the car, as soon as he made eye contact with him the man pulled out a firearm.

Oosthuizen heard the passenger door open and an unknown man climbed inside the car and the other unknown man that was standing on the driver’s side, climbed on the back of the bakkie.

Both unknown men were armed, they then told Oosthuizen to drive or else they would kill him.
Oosthuizen then drove out on the Verena Road, past Pine Ridge.

A few kilometers later, the men told Oosthuizen to stop the bakkie, climb out and walk away.
Oosthuizen did as he was told by the men as they drove off with his bakkie.

In a state of shock and disbelief of what had just happened, Oosthuizen walked along the road until he got a lift from someone back to town.
He went to the police station where a case of car hijacking was opened. Inside the bakkie were his laptop and a cell phone.
