Woman woken up by stranger then raped

A 38-year-old woman was woken up from her deep sleep when someone shone a bright light in her face.

The incident happened on Wednesday, July 2 at 02:30.

The woman alleged that the known person in her house was armed with a knife and she was about to stand up.
He forced her back to bed, removed the blanket from her and raped her. He then took money and her cell phones.

It is still unclear how the suspect gained entry into the house, but once he got what he wanted he fled the scene.
The suspect is unknown to the woman. Police members attended the scene and a statement was taken.

A case of house robbery was opened at Witbank Police Station and this case is still currently under investigation.
A second incident occurred on Saturday, July 5 at 21:35. Mr Thandeka Khanyile alleged that two men gained entry into the guesthouse.

The men were armed with guns and told Khanyile that they wanted to rent a room. They then took the remote control from Khanyile and forced the gate open, when another suspect entered the premises.

Once all the men were inside the gate and the gate was closed, they went to Khanyile’s room, which they searched for money and cell phones.
Khanyile’s valuable items were taken and the suspects left the scene. A case of business robbery and theft was opened at Witbank SAPS.
