Resident told to move out

Mr Samuel Nkosi says he and his family are living an uncertain life in Empumelweleni.

Nkosi has been staying in the area since 2007. His trouble started a few months ago when he was told by Cllr Lydia Magabotse that his stand was in the way and that he should move out.

“I was told after a survey that I must move. What surprises me is that I was not shown the ground map of the area and was told that somebody else is going to be given my stand,” Nkosi said.

Nkosi said that after the survey his neighbours were given title deeds to their stands, but he was not given any. He said he would be happy to move out provided he is shown the topography survey.

Mr Samuel Nkosi’s stand in Empumelweleni. He said he was told to move out after a survey was done.

“I have been staying here for nine years and I have struggled over these years with my family. I want to know what future holds for me. Since this area is going to be developed people are flocking in here. I need answers and I cannot build my house because of the threats hanging over my head. If I am forced to move out, I will simply put my things on the road and see what happens on my stand,” stated Nkosi.

Cllr Magobotse said she is not exactly sure about Nkosi’s problem but there are people who are supposed to move out after the survey.
“I can advise him to come to the office to state his matter and will take it from there,” she said.
