‘No to drugs’ campaign reaches out to schools

The WITBANK NEWS ‘No to drugs’ campaign is creating a platform where teachers can learn more about the drug problem in the city.

This campaign was taken to Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog on Monday, June 23.

Teachers sat in surprise and listened as Capt Francois Roets from Crime Intelligence Gathering (CIG) component of the SAPS shared hair-raising stories about the current situation in the city.

Capt Roets told the staff that more than 200 drug dealers have been identified in the city. He further said that every school in the city has a drug problem.

“Drugs have no preference, and therefore every youngster in this city is prey to the vultures just waiting for them to take that first hit,” he said.
Staff members had the opportunity to take a closer look at drugs and familiarise themselves with the paraphernalia associated with drugs.
