Police combat crime

The Witbank SAPS arrested 81 criminals in the past week.

They found some to be under the influence of substances, others were caught stealing or having stolen property and the other crimes were serious crimes such as murder.

The detainees arrested were charged as follows; 14 were arrested for shoplifting, a further 12 were taken in for general theft, seven had drugs in their possession and three were found to be driving drunk.

Eight out of the 81 suspects were charged with assault, four caused malicious damage to property and three were held for house-breaking and theft, four were in possession of suspected stolen property, another four robbed a business whilst four more committed armed robbery, five were held for kidnapping, another five attempted to commit murder and another five suspects were arrested for rape whilst the last two of the 81 offenders were arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed fire-arm.
