Domestic worker locked up

A domestic worker that has been working for her employer for years now was slapped in her face and locked up for over four hours as suspects cleaned out the house.

On Tuesday, May 13 as the owner of the house in Visa Street left the house in the morning she locked the front door, as her domestic employee was busy cleaning inside the house.

At approximately 10:00 the domestic worker heard the front door opening. So she thought that it was the owner returning home.
While the domestic made her way up the stairs; she was confronted by three men, one was armed with a firearm.

They immediately took the domestic worker up the stairs into the main bedroom, where they asked for the safe keys and car keys.
“I don’t know where they are,” said the domestic worker who had a gun against her throat.

The men then allegedly started to slap her as she kept on saying that she does not have the keys.
Eventually the suspects took her cell phone and locked her up in the main bedroom as they ransacked the house.

A vehicle was parked inside the garden as they loaded all the items into the vehicle before leaving the scene.
Once they had left, the domestic worker started shouting for help out of a window.
The neighbour heard the screams for help and phoned the owner of the house.

Once the neighbour got home, she found her domestic worker in a state of shock and her house that had been ransacked.
“What I can see now, is that most of the electronic stuff, jewellery, watches, sunglasses, food, alcohol, shoes and cameras are gone.  They also helped themselves to a snack and left their sweet papers lying around,” said the home owner.

Police from Witbank SAPS attended the scene and an investigation will be done.
