Accidents occurred on ‘Old Roads’

The season changing has come with clouds of mist filling the air and premature nights are become a hindrance to clear visibility.

Recent conditions have seen accidents happening on roads, leaving some with serious injuries.

On May 7, an accident happened on the Bethal Road when a Quantum taxi and Nissan bakkie collided with each other. The cause of the accident was uncertain; and allegedly both vehicles were moving in the same direction. The passengers in the taxi sustained injuries and were taken to Witbank Hospital, as well as the driver of the Nissan bakkie.

Another similar accident happened on the Old Middelburg Road, near Blancheville, when an Isuzu bakkie lost control as it approached the curve along Voortrekker Road towards the OR Tambo intersection at 07:00. 10 Passengers were involved in the accident and two were reported to have died on the scene. The two deceased are unknown; they had no identification with them.

The driver of the bakkie, Jabulani Mbonani said, “I lost control of the vehicle as I was approaching the curve and the car then overturned on its side.” The patients were assisted by paramedics from LangaMed and ER24. LangaMed spokesperson Dino Padayachee said“
