Help an elderly with pocket money

The elderly are a national and personal asset, citizens who deserve to be recognised and valued for the contribution that they have made in the country that we live in.

However our old age homes are full of the elderly who have been pushed aside and forgotten, out of sight, out of mind.
In our own Immergroen Old Age Home there are many residents that battle to keep head above water.

The recent government pension increase of R80 is already insufficient to pay for their monthly accommodation.
There is no money for toiletries and pocket money is but a dream.

A R100 can make a difference, will you be the one to put a smile on someones face today?

For this reason a volunteer at the old age home, Ms Wilna Botha, started a project to help the 56 residents who are in dire need.
The Pocket Money Project involves ‘adopting’ one of these elderly for six months by donating R100 per month, which may be used to buy toiletries and something sweet for the tooth.

Anyone wanting to contribute by sponsoring one or more residents is welcome to assist.
Ready made toiletry packets are available for purchase at R5 Price Beat Store for R50 or R100.
Choose a name from the 13 residents in the self care section, 26 in the sick bay or 17 in the 24-hour frail care section.
Contact Wilna at 013 692 5981.

Contributions may be paid in to Wilna every month or directly into Immergroen’s bank account: SAVF Tehuis, Absa, Account number 1360410028.

Use the reference ‘pocket money and the sponsored person’s name.
Let’s take hands and care for our Golden Oldies, they deserve it!
