R1-million reward for robbery arrest

R1-million reward for information leading to the successful arrests, recovery of cash and conviction of the perpetrators.

With what could be the biggest heist of the decade, SBV Services is offering a R1-million reward seeking justice.
While millions of people celebrated Freedom Day, staff cleaned up the mess left by armed robbers who burst into SBV Cash Centre in eMalahleni and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbers knew that April 27 would be payday for them as they entered the premises, subdued the guards on duty, broke through a wall in the business to reveal the cash room, and looted an undisclosed amount of money.

According to reports, the guards who were stationed on duty were found along the Kromdraai road and were allegedly poisoned by the armed robbers.

“We can confirm that a cash centre robbery took place at the cash centre Witbank on Monday morning April 28. The cash centre was attacked by armed suspects. A substantial cash amount was taken during the incident,” reads a statement released by SBV Services.

“We are receiving support at the highest level from the SAPS, are collaborating with all the relevant industry stakeholders and are confident this will lead to the perpetrators being arrested,” said Ms Tertia Pillay, communications co-ordinator.

In an update from SBV Services they added that despite a well organised attack, cash centre design managed to limit the perpetrators’ access. The perpetrators only managed to access a subsidiary vault.

“Unfortunately four employees sustained minor injuries, however we are pleased that there was no loss of life. All services were restored that same day,” ended Pillay.
