Driver dies in overturned car
Emergency services were called out to an accident on the Old Ogies Road with no witnesses to confirm what caused the crash.
The lone driver was found dead in the overturned wrecked vehicle on Thursday, April 17.
The white VW Polo seemed to have crashed into the barriers that lined the off-ramp onto the old Ogies road from the N12 highway.
After colliding with the barrier, the vehicles apparently flipped over and rolled, coming to a stop in the middle of the old Ogies road.
A spokesperson for JD Med, Julius Mashabela, explained the accident scene: “the vehicle was lying upside down in the middle of the road. The barriers next to the off ramp were damaged. There was no sign of another vehicle, we checked the area to make sure.”
Ogies SAPS has opened an inquest and will investigate the circumstances of the accident. However, there were no witnesses who could clarify what caused the driver to lose control.
