Man robbed at gunpoint

To avoid the month end rush and all the long queues, residents opt to use ATMs when the hustle and bustle of daily activity has settled.

Mr Tsietsi Mosebo was at the Tasbet Spar Centre when he was robbed of his cash.

The incident happened at 19:50 on March 28 as Mosebo went to Tasbet Spar to draw some money. He was allegedly told inside Spar that the ATMs had no more cash in them and he was then directed to the Standard Bank ATM near the entrance of the centre.

When Mosebo was halfway through his transaction, he said that he felt someone grabbing him by the waist. He immediately pressed the ‘cancel transaction’ button before turning around. “He had a gun to my back and when I saw that I ran away back to my car,” said Mosebo.

Exactly five minutes later, he received an SMS notification notifying him of a withdrawal from his account. Mosebo said that he did not know how the robbers managed to get away with his card because he said he took it from the ATM before he ran away.
“They first withdrew R3 000 and later an SMS came in, telling me that another R700 was withdrawn,” said Mosebo.

Mosebo said that he did not have enough time to look at the registration as he was in shock.
He added that the thieves fled in a black BMW with no registration plates.

Mosebo does not know who the suspects are and did not get a chance to look at them as he said he was too scared.
Mosebo has since contacted his bank and he has new access to his account and funds.
