Man dies on Old Middelburg road
Her voice sounds thick when she speaks of the brother she lost.
Ms Caroline Monyela and the rest of her family still grieve for Mahlatsi Moyela after his friend’s vehicle rolled and claimed his life.
On Saturday March 22, at about 04:00, Mahlatsi Moyela (25) was driving with some of his friends from eMalahleni to Middelburg, when the accident occurred.
It seems the driver of a white Volkswagen Polo lost control and the car overturned on the Old Middelburg road.
“I’m still not sure what happened. The driver is still in the ICU,” Caroline said. She received a call saying only that three people sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, and that one did not survive.
Caroline remembered again the heartache and sadness felt when she found out that it was her brother who had died.
“I visited the driver in hospital and he asked me where Mahlatsi is, and why is he not there in the hospital with him’,” Caroline said with difficulty as she fought back more tears.
“I couldn’t tell him. I’m afraid if I do he might not make it, in his condition. I just told him that my brother was taken to another ward.”
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
