Driver remains in a critical condition

Both drivers were on their way home after a busy day at work, yet again another serious accident occurred on the Old Middelburg Road.

The accident happened on Tuesday, March 18 at approximately 17:20 just before the Jackaroo three way stop.
Mr Willem Brill who works for A.van der Westhuizen Construction was on his way home in a white Toyota Quantum and Mr George Mataumba was travelling in a red Nissan Sani bakkie on his way to Jackaroo Plots to his home.

It is still unclear how the head on collision happened on the Old Middelburg Road.
Brill was left trapped inside the vehicle until rescue works arrived on scene.
Once emergency services arrived on scene, they all worked together to stabilise and to get Brill, who was in a critical condition, out the vehicle.

Mr Jacques van Dyk was very concerned about Brill, as emergency services were treating Brill, van Dyk said to the paramedics, “Please look after him.”

The Jaws-of-Life were used to cut the car away from Brill so he could be moved.
Another employee that was travelling with Brill only sustained minor injuries and waited inside an ambulance. Mataumba also sustained minor injuries.

Paramedics from all three emergency services, Langamed Emergency Services, GSP and Witbank Provincial ambulance Service work together to removed Mr Willem Brill from the wreckage.
