Clewer pipes run dry, no water for over a month

With the winter coming soon, the last thing residents need is a cold bath or no bath at all.

A hot bath keeps up the body temperature, as well as prepares one for the day ahead, all fresh and clean.

In Clewer some of the residents have no idea what it feels like to take a bath or shower as their taps have been giving out nothing but a sigh of air, signalling the unavailability of water in them. “The water has been gone for so long that we do not even remember when the problem started, it has been more than a month though that we have been without water,” said Thokozani, a resident from Clewer.

According to the residents there was no notification for them, alerting them that their water supply would be cut off, for whatever reason and what period of time. They just woke up one morning and found there to be no water. As per usual with water supply cuts, the residents thought their water would return within a day, but more days went by and eventually after a week with no water, they became concerned. It has now been a full month and some days that they have had no water at all.

Some areas of Clewer do have water, but that is just the minority. Most are without water and they have said that not all of them that can afford to buy water for all uses in their households. The local municipality could not be reached for comment and did not respond to an email sent to them with regards to the situation. Clewer residents want answers about when their supply will be brought back to them, but no explanation can be given to them as yet.
