Police visit schools to campaign

Kriel police visited schools during a campaign against substance and drug abuse.

The police visited the schools on Monday, February 24 with their specialised Narcotic K9 Unit accompanied by stakeholders Kriel Mine and Sanca.

All high schools in the area, namely Lehlaka, Sibongamandla and Kriel, were reached during the campaign.

The police did a presentation with samples of some drugs and a demonstration was held of a search for drugs, utilizing the dogs.
The police raised awareness regarding drug abuse, how it contributes to property crimes in the area, violence and its impact on individuals and families.

They also mobilized children to take ownership of schools and to report crime and violence at schools.
