Life worth less than contents in a fridge

A man was shot before house robbers made off with only a radio and the contents of a fridge.

Early on Monday morning April 3, at around 03:20, a couple was woken by a noise in Tasbet Park 2. Ms Ntombikayise Mavuso relived the nightmare, saying how her husband had left the room to check if everything was still in order.

A few minutes later, Mavuso heard a gun shot and her husband came running back into the room – locking the door. He was bleeding and they immediately phoned their neighbours, who then phoned the police.

Mavuso’s husband was shot in his stomach by robbers who had allegedly gained entrance into the house through a window. It’s unknown how many robbers there were and how many were armed, but after Mavuso’s husband was taken to the hospital, only a few items were reported stolen. “They took the radio and some things in the fridge,” Mavuso told.

The suspects are still unknown and police have not yet made any arrests.
