Hijack! They needed a lift

The season for a peak in certain crimes has come. Robbers and car thieves know their tricks of the trade and civilians are highly cautioned to be wary of any tell-tale signs of suspicious activity.

During the early morning hours on March 2, suspects just jumped into a man’s vehicle, as he was about to turn from a stop street. The victim, Mr Willem Boshielo, was on his way home when he stopped at a stop street and just as he was about to take off, two men allegedly let themselves into the back seat of his car and told him to continue driving towards the N4.

According to Boshielo when they got onto the N4 highway, one of the men strangled him and forcefully demanded that he move over to the passenger seat so the other suspect could drive. Along the way, the one suspect was apparently having difficulty driving the car and Boshielo was once again instructed to take back the wheel. Along the way Boshielo said that he was told to stop in an isolated area, he said that he was then taken out of the car. The hi-jackers allegedly tied him up and left him in the bushes.

Boshielo managed to get loose and he made his way to the Vosman police station, where he reported the case. The vehicle was tracked down by the flying squad. The suspects were arrested still in possession of the stolen vehicle.
