Youngsters reaching out

A group of young people has put some thought and their energy into a project and is focusing on helping other people.

They are part of a group of altar servers at the St Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Schoongezith and under the mentorship of MrDansil Van Rooyen. As the new chairperson of the Local Pastoral Committee (LPC), he has set himself projects or programs in the church and one of the projects is to mentor the altar servers.

According to Mr Van Rooyen the children cook the food themselves and they then hand it out to people in the city. The children has prepared 20 carry packs to distribute. One of the people who received the food pack is a disabled person in a wheelchair who stays in the city streets. One of the people found on the street was too happy to receive the food and wished the children well.

According to Mr Van Rooyen for now the projects will be done on monthly basis and hopefully more children will be hooked into the project in the future.
