Misfortune hit him that day and he was robbed at gunpoint, inside his house.
Mr Richard Mogoane was in bed awake at about 04:00 on Thursday, February 6 when he heard strange noises around the house. He said he listened to the noise for some time before deciding to go and investigate as he was unsure whether the noise was coming from inside or outside the house. As he was busy looking outside the house through his windows he said he could still hear the funny noise but could still not pick up where it actually came from.
Mogoane said that was when he decided to open the door and get a proper view of what is going on in his yard. “As I opened the door I was met by a gun in my face and asked to walk back into the house without a sound,” said Mogoane. He said that he did as he was told and upon getting back inside the house, three males followed him back inside. Only one of the suspects pointed their fire-arm but they were all in possession of weapons.
Mogoane said that he mamnaged to get a look at the one who had his gun pointed at him, he is short and very light in complexion with scars on both sides of his face. He was then told not to look at them or they will shoot him. Mogoane said that he did not attempt to argue or negotiate with the robbers as they had a gun pointed at him. Whilst the one made sure that Mogoane was unable to do anything during the robbery, the other two suspects removed the items they were leaving with from their plugs and the dining room stand.
“They too my television, sound system, cell phone and my DVD’s and CD’s,” said Mogoane. The value of the goods stolen was estimated to be around R34 000. The suspects fled the scene and ordered Mogoane not to follow them until they had gone. He was unable to see if they had a motor vehicle waiting for them outside. No arrests have been made yet.
