Robots out leads to confusion and disaster

It’s still unclear what happened last week at McCarthy Volkswagen, that left a vehicle on top of another and causing severe damage to other vehicles.

The accident occurred on Thursday, January 30 at approximately 11:00 in OR Tambo Street by the intersection at McCarthy Volkswagen.

It’s alleged that the driver of the white Volkswagen Golf was traveling from the N4 highway along OR Tambo towards Klipfontein area.

At the intersection at OR Tambo and Stevenson Street the robots were not working, as that area had a power failure.

The driver in the white Volkswagen Golf wanted to turn right, in the opposite direction a Mercedes Benz came down the road.
It’s alleged that instead of the driver in the golf pressing the brake pedal, he accidentally pressed the acceleration pedal, he went over the crib, onto the grass, hit a Telkom box, went over a wall and onto McCarthy Volkswagen’s premises landing onto a Volkswagen Scirocco and damaging two other vehicles.

“The estimated damage to the three cars that were on the floor, is approximately R500 000,” said Mr Andre Swart, manager.
No one sustained any injuries in the crash.
