From Lesotho mountains to Mandela race

Mtsweni said winning the Lesotho race at a very high altitude and winning the Mandela Remembrance in a time of 36:15 was the highlight for the year.

Veteran runner Nondidwa Mtsweni is enjoying a good year this year, fresh from winning the Lesotho race he has now added a feather in his cap by winning the Mandela race held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Mtsweni said winning the Lesotho race at a very high altitude and winning the Mandela Remembrance in a time of 36:15 was the highlight for the year.

The race was run last week Sunday, on December 8.

“This was the third time in succession for me winning the Mandela race plus third time luck winning the Hawick Mandela Race in KwaZulu-Natal. I also won a 10 km race in Hendrina on Saturday, December 7”, said Mtsweni.

Mtsweni added to say that he was now resting after a hectic three months of activity.

He will now concentrate on training up and coming young athletes in his Ikhaya Athletics Club.

He also wished all sports personnel and athletes a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
