Thulisile and Thobile Amon (20) are middle-distance runners who completed Grade 12 in 2018 at Tuks Sport High School in Pretoria despite being orphans

They have conquered the country and they are known for their athletics power and now they want to conquer the world in athletics and in education.

Thulisile and Thobile Amon (20) are middle-distance runners who completed Grade 12 in 2018 at Tuks Sport High School in Pretoria despite being orphans.

The Amon twins have been awarded a scholarship to study Bachelor of Social Services at Monroe College in New York, USA for the next four years.

The scholarship will pay tuition and accommodation at the college, but they still require funds for the trip to and from USA, visa application fees and other miscellaneous monthly expenditures.

The pair intends to depart on August 10 and return in May next year (2020).

They shall also require return flights each year until they complete their studies.

The Amon twins were admitted to Care Village orphanage centre at the age of 8 years in 2007, they stayed there throughout their primary school years and beginning of secondary studies till they were recruited by TUKS.

They have been under the guidance of their grandmother who is frail and is visually impaired.

They were recruited by Nkangala Athletic Academy who assisted them to get high school sport scholarship at Tuks Sport High School in Pretoria, where they matriculated in 2018.

Through best performance in domestic championships they attracted the attention of Monroe College in New York, USA who offered them sport scholarship with limited benefits.

Thobile and Thulisile are currently under the care of Nkangala Athletic Academy chairperson Emmanuel Mabaso and guidance of their grandmother.

“It is their belief that studying at Monroe College will help them achieve their goals in both athletics and education. Without receiving the sponsorship, these dreams will remain unfulfilled,” said Emmanuel Mabaso NAA chairperson.
